Once again J. D. King, noted pastor and historian, has broken new ground with an indispensable work on divine healing.  This time he has given us a wonderful book about Ethan Otis Allen, the man that A.B. Simpson called, the “Father of Divine Healing” in America.

This important publication is rare in that King dips deeply into our past, far below the surface of popular doctrinal and denominational teachings, in order to shed light on an important figure in divine healing ministry. He reveals, among other things, what the ministry of healing was really like -- and how divine healing was taught -- long before the appearance of famous Pentecostal pioneers and healing revivalists.

King's work is not the typical exposition on healing that has been told and retold for many decades by well-known preachers. Instead, his book is a fresh look at history that provides foundational teachings and inspiring testimonies of healing that have been well documented.

In sharing Allen's story, King is helping to preserve an important piece of history, and at the same time, he is introducing Allen to a new generation. King is also providing the church with insight on a timely topic. His book is an invaluable resource with practical implications for anyone pondering a healing ministry.

I am excited about this work, and I enthusiastically give it my highest recommendation. For it is essential reading for anyone interested in divine healing.
