MDAH's Freedom Summer project comes to Natchez

The Freedom Summer project organized by the Mississippi Department of Archives and History, came to Natchez on Thursday, July 25. The project is titled, “Freedom Summer: 60 Years Later – A Landmarks of American History Teacher Workshop.” It included about 35 educators and museum professionals from across the country.

We met at Historic Natchez Foundation, where I was honored to present a talk on “Freedom Summer in Natchez.” We were joined by Mayor Dan Gibson, Alderwoman Valencia Hall, and Cater Burns, executive director of Historic Natchez Foundation.
Our program included a tour of historical sites in Natchez.

Many thanks to Michael Morris,  Al and Karis for making this event possible.
