This is a presentation on the important contributions of
Moody's book, Coming of Age in Mississippi (1968). It was presented at the
Tuesday, Feb. 27, 2024, meeting of the Natchez Historical Society at the
Historic Natchez Foundation in Natchez, Miss. It attempts to show, among other
things, that while civil rights pioneer Anne Moody has not received the
recognition she deserves, her memoir remains a significant contribution to
Mississippi history, and it has critical implications for race relations, voting
rights, human rights and equality in today's society.
