WOODVILLE, Miss. – Monica Carter of Gloster, Miss., is the new Case Manager Supervisor at Wilkinson County Correctional Facility (WCCF).

In her new position, she will lead a team of employees in several areas. In addition to six Case Managers and Record Clerks in the Classification Department, she will supervise the mailroom staff, according to Deputy Warden of Programs George Castro. She will also oversee numerous programs and classes aimed at helping those incarcerated at WCCF, he said.

“She’s well deserving of the position,” said Programs Director Tracey J. Arbuthnot. “She’s worked in the area for 12 years as a case manager and we value her services.”

Arbuthnot said Carter has provided “effective and efficient work” on a daily basis. “I know that she will be a great leader,” she added.

Carter has been employed for 17 years at the facility, where she began as a Correctional Officer. After 5 years in that position, she became a Case Manager. Over the last year, she began working as the Job Placement Coordinator.

Carter said she looks forward to the challenges and responsibilities in her new role. “First and foremost, I thank God for allowing me the opportunity to be chosen for this position,” she said. “I have been molded and mentored for this position by the very best. I intend to hold myself to the highest standards.”

Carter is 2000 graduate of Amite High School in Liberty. She holds an associate degree in criminal justice from Grantham University. She is a veteran of the U.S. Army.

Carter is married to Travoris Carter Sr. They are the parents of three children, ages 18, 10 and 4.

WCCF houses 950 male offenders. It is privately managed by MTC or Management & Training Corporation of Utah.
