Ms. Maggie Lowery of Visit Mississippi informed me via
email on Monday, March 16, 2020, that the unveiling of the Anne Moody marker has
been postponed due to COVID-19. Even though the original date of March 31 is
now out of the question, Moody will still be honored, but at a later date,
according to Lowery. “I can assure you that the marker will go in the ground,” she said.
I will provide an update when more information is
available. In the meantime, we should all keep the faith and do our part in
following the recommendations of our medical professionals by consistently washing
our hands and observing social distancing in our daily activities.
I’m sure we will eventually get through this coronavirus/COVID-19
pandemic, and we will have a great program in Centreville, Miss., that will
recognize Moody for her contributions as a writer and civil rights activist.
