Dr. Edith Prakash has published a biography of T.L. Osborn that originated with her doctoral work at Regents University, where she earned a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Renewal Theology. The book is titled, Yesterday, Today and Forever: The Extraordinary Life and Ministry of Tommy Lee Osborn (Seymour Press, 2018). Since its publication last year, the book has received rave reviews from historians and church leaders. According to historian Vinson Synan (who passed on March 15, 2020), Prakash’s book is “a full biography of T.L. Osborn who set the pattern for overseas mass healing crusades that have transformed Pentecostalism on a worldwide scale.” In his endorsement of the book, he notes that “she offers nuanced accounts of his theology and his influence on new generations of Indian Pentecostal leaders.” The book also received praise from Dr. Dennis Lindsay, president of Christ For The Nations Institute (CFNI). Prakash is a 1999 graduate of CFNI. Lindsay, the son of Gordon Lindsay (of The Voice of Healing fame), says he was blessed to learn more about the healing ministry of T. L. Osborn. “As you read this book, you will be encouraged and inspired to believe that God still heals people today,” he writes.

In the Overview shared on Prakash’s website, the following is noted:

impacted the global renewal movement in the 1950s through
his healing and mass evangelistic crusades, yet until now, no critical
examination of his life and ministry has been undertaken This work examines
that life and ministry, as well as the theology, and hermeneutics of this
extraordinary man, highlighting mission strategies he inaugurated in India that
have served as the foundation of mass evangelism in that country over the last
fifty years.”
Osborn was a protégé of F.F. Bosworth. He boasted of having been taught a “lot of secrets” related to ministry and doctrine by Bosworth in the 1940s and 1950s. His book, Healing the Sick, was not only endorsed by Bosworth, but it is filled with quotes and excerpts from Bosworth’s sermons. Osborn also credited Bosworth with having inspired him to pray for the sick en masse.
